Joy Behar has been slammed for her “incredibly rude” behavior during Whoopi Goldberg’s emotional outro on the Tuesday January 24th episode of The View. The rest of her co-stars looked solemn as Goldberg referenced the deadly shootings in California and Illinois, whereas Behar had her head down and actually looked like she had fallen asleep or even worse, was looking down at her phone, which caused a huge stir on social media!

Joy Behar Slammed For ‘Rude Behavior’ During Whoopi Goldberg’s Emotional Message On ‘The View’

The incident happened as the The View came back from its last commercial break, where Goldberg said: “Welcome back. Before we go, we wanted to take a moment to pay our respects to yesterday’s deadly shootings in California and Illinois. You know there have been 39 mass shootings in the first month of 2023 and obviously and unfortunately it is not going away and it is one we will be addressing again.”

“We’re glad that you watched us. We’re glad that you came to be with us. We want you to have a great day to take a little time to enjoy the view and really take time to enjoy The View,” the 67-year-old EGOT winner continued, as the camera panned out to show the rest of the co-hosts, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines, who all looked very solemn throughout her message.

However, Behar, 80, had a very different reaction to the rest of her co-hosts, as she had her head down throughout Goldberg’s speech, which led fans to wonder whether she was pretending to be asleep, actually asleep, or was even looking down at her phone, and only looked up for the last 15 seconds.

Fan Reactions

“Can’t u wait a minute for the show to be over? [What] did u ever do without your [expletive] phone?” one fan criticized in a since-deleted comment on Twitter, adding that Behar’s actions were “kinda sad.” “The most rude, ignorant old lady ever!” exclaimed another Twitter user, while another thought that she “comes across as a mean bully and makes it very difficult to watch the show. It’s not funny – it’s just rude.” Yikes!

Fans Slam Behar’s Previous Rude Behavior Earlier This Month

This isn’t the first time Behar has been slammed for her “rude” behavior, as just a few weeks ago, the author came under fire for something she said to Broadway legend (and original Glinda from WickedKristin Chenoweth when she appeared on the show.

Behar referenced the 54-year-old singer and actress’s 4’11 height when she said the show “raised the seat a little” for her, as well as saying, “You’re a little girl with a big voice and a big heart” further into the show, which fans criticized her for on social media. “Little girl? No Joy she’s a grown woman. I didn’t care for that remark from Joy,” one fan commented, while another added, “Joy calling Kristin a lil’ girl! It’s probably the voice!”
