Nicole Kidman Shares Rare Childhood Photos & Thanks Fans For “Outpouring Of Love”

The loss of a parent is never an easy thing. Whether their health is failing, or death comes completely unexpectedly, there is always a tremendous amount of pain. Nicole Kidman’s mother, Janelle, died earlier this week at age 84.

Per the Guardian, the Australian actress had just arrived in Venice for the 2024 Venice Film Festival when she learned her mother had passed. Nicole won the award for best actress at the festival for her film Babygirl, but she was not present as she had returned home to be with her family.

Nicole Shared A Statement At The Festival
Through the film’s director, Halina Reijn, Nicole shared,

“I’m in shock, and I have to go to my family. But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me, and she made me. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking,” Nicole wrote. “And my heart is broken.”

She later posted to Instagram on behalf of her family thanking everyone for the “outpouring of love and kindness.”

The caption on a slideshow of Nicole Kidman’s family photos reads, “Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.”

Nicole lost her father, Antony, in 2014 at the age of 75. Friend Naomi Watts shared a message of hope on Nicole’s post.

“Sending so much love to you both. So sorry for your loss. Your wonderfully spirited mum will be missed by so many. Hopefully, she is now peacefully reunited with your papa xxx love you.”

Glenn Close agreed, “Dear Nicole, Your universe has shifted. Please give yourself enough time to adjust. My deep sympathies for your profound loss. She lives on in you and your family.”

So did Lenny Kravitz who wrote, “My deepest condolences to you and the family. I am blessed to have been in her presence. Rest in power.”
