The Huffington Post reports that on Friday, August 9, George Lucas, 69, and Mellody Hobson, 44, his new wife of nearly two months, received a baby daughter named Everest Hobson Lucas via surrogacy.
This new addition is Hobson’s first child and Lucas’s fourth.
On June 22, Lucas and Hobson got married at Skywalker Ranch in California. Later that month, Prince entertained the couple’s famous friends in Chicago at a follow-up event.
In addition to her positions as chair of DreamWorks animation and financial contributor at CBS, Hobson, a native of Chicago, is the CEO of the Chicago-based investment management company Ariel Investments.
In October 2012, Lucas sold Lucasfilm Ltd., his production firm, to the Walt Disney firm for $4.05 billion.
Lucas remarked, “It was 40 years of work,” regarding the “Star Wars” franchise during the November Ebony Power 100 Gala. “It has been my life, but I am ready to move on to bigger and better things.”
